Paul Jennings Pannell, 81, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Monday, February 07, 2022 at his residence.
He was born in Cleveland County on August 12, 1940 to the late Orvis Jennings Pannell and Genita Eloise Bailey Pannell.
Paul was a member of Montford Cove Baptist Church. He loved fishing, working in the sawmill, watching westerns, and going to his cabin on the mountain with friends and family. Paul retired after working in construction his whole life. He was a pioneer in the creation of the Southern Interstate Highways. He finished his career in Western North Carolina.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda “Faye” Smith Pannell; and a sister, Nannie Pannell Conner.
He is survived by four children, Spencer Pannell (Lesa), Robin Pannell (Carolyn), Victor Pannell (Pam), and Jody Pannell Tate (Paul); six grandchildren, Brandi Fore (Brandon), Ashley Chambers (Billy), Kayla Pannell, Brittany Pannell, Amber Pannell, and Rachel Tate; and nine great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Brandon Fore officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the service at the Pannell Family Cemetery.
