Paul Benjamin Avery

Paul Benjamin Avery, 70, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center in Asheville.

He was born March 10, 1951 in McDowell County to the late Samuel J. Avery and Mary Margaret Moore Avery.

Paul spent many years laying carpet, and he truly enjoyed his work. He loved his family, and he never missed a family gathering. A great cook, Paul was a humble man who enjoyed making others laugh. He loved the Lord most of all, and enjoyed singing for Him.

He is preceded in death by five brothers, Lonnie Hardy, Benny Avery, Bobby Avery, William Avery, and Donald Avery; and three sisters, Ardell Harris, Janie Siler, and Thelma Avery.

He is survived by six siblings, Ealfounza Hardy, Kenneth Avery, Gracie Jackson, Catherine Barnard (Theston), Shirley Lynch (Donald), and Mildred Littlejohn; a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and Hezekiah Goode and Quira Tate, who Paul loved as a son and daughter.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times the family will gather at the home of Al Hardy’s home 87 West Yancey St. Marion NC 28752.
