Mrs. Patsy Buckner Dotson, age 74 of Old Fort, went home to be with the Lord on the evening of Friday, September 13, 2019 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain surrounded by her loving family. The daughter of the late George Truett Buckner, and Julia Ann Bean Buckner, she was born on March 17, 1945.
Patsy was a member of Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church, and loved to spread God’s word. She was known for her love of crafts, and especially making cards. Most of all she loved and cared for her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by six brothers, three sisters, and her beloved husband of fifty-two years, Caroll Alvin Dotson, who passed away on August 23, 2018.
Left to cherish her memory are her two children, Amy Wilson (David), of Old Fort, Madina Elliott (Brian) of Roan Mountain, Tennessee; one brother Sam Buckner (Judy), of Old Fort, and one sister, Janet Moore (Bobby), of Marion. She also leaves behind three grandchildren, Mason Lee Alvin Elliott, Alexis Ann Dotson, Kaden Keith Dotson; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Lori Nichols and husband Jerry.
A funeral service to celebrate Patsy’s life will be held on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 4:00 P.M. at Old Fort Free Will Baptist Church, with Reverends Johnny Chastain, and Jeff Parker officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Cherry Springs Memorial Park in Old Fort.
