Pastor Robert Clarence Vance, age 77, of Marion, North Carolina went to be with the Lord Friday, June 22, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Pastor Vance was born August 28, 1940 in Bristol, TN to the late Ralph Vance and Ethel Roark Giger. He was the pastor of Roland’s Chapel Baptist Church for 37 years. He enjoyed fishing and working in his yard and garden, but his favorite pastime was being a fisher of men and sowing the seeds of the Word to the lost. He was also an avid Carolina Tarheels fan.
In addition to his parents, Pastor Vance is also preceded in death by two sisters, Elizabeth Vance Rose and Linda Vance Newton.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of over 57 years, Elizabeth Ann Williams Vance; three daughters, Robin Vance of Marion, NC, Gina Atiles (Tommy Kullman) of Chesapeake, VA and Angela Tate of Marion, NC; two grandchildren, Jessica Atiles and Alex Atiles and wife, Michelle; two former sons-in-law, Bill Atiles and Wade Tate; and very special church family.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service to celebrate Pastor Vance’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Roland’s Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Ray Patrick, Jeff Carver, Leonard Parker and Pastor Gary Shew officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
