Ollie Mae Effler, 71, of Old Fort, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 in Morganton at UNC Health Blue Ridge.
Ollie was born in McDowell County to the late James Effler and the late Irene Knupp Effler. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Daniel Effler, Doris Lunsford, James Effler, Jr., Mary Goodson, Henry Effler, Evelyn Young and Carolyn Jones.
She was a dedicated and faithful member of Old Fort Church of God where her passion was in Children’s Ministry. Ollie was also a member of the church choir and was known as a prayer warrior. She was a hard worker who was a loving mother, sister and aunt. She was constantly doing for others and will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Mona Effler; two sisters, Sarah Bright (Ray) and Bernice Ewart and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2024 at 2:30 pm at the Old Fort Church of God. Bishop Carl Overton and Rev. Brenda Allison will be officiating the service. The family will be receiving friends an hour before the service from 1:30 until 2:30 at the church. Burial will follow at Cherry Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
