Nora P. Cline

Nora P. Cline, age 98, of Marion and formerly of Black Mountain, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Autumn Care of Marion.  Born on December 22, 1917 in Clarks Chapel (Caldwell County), North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Charlie and Mamie Bell Raby Clark. 

Nora, who enjoyed quoting scriptures, was a Sunday pre-school teacher at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, where she was a member of; and assisted in starting Clover Baptist Church out of her home.  Nora took great pride in raising and selling over 200 types of daylilies, which she could name and hybridized, with her late husband of 67 years, Fred Cline, who passed away on March 22, 2005.  In her spare time, she enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the creek, which ran behind her house.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Allen Cline; five brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by one son, Larry Fred Cline (Patricia), daughter-in-law Dorene Cline; one brother, Jerry Clark (Lois); eight grandchildren, Lora Loftin, Mark Cline, Julia Young, Sherry Donachie, Lynne Huber, Anne Peterson, Marty Chapman and Kelly Chapman; sixteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.  Nora is also survived by one brother-in-law, Jess Bowman; and one sister-in-law, Jimmie Clark.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 02, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.  at Hankins Baptist Church in Marion with Rev. Danny White officiating.  Interment will follow at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Hudson (Sawmill). 

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at Hankins Baptist Church.
