Nolan Burgin

April 21, 1973 — July 21, 2019

Nolan Burgin, age 46, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly doing what he enjoyed, camping.  The son of Lyndon and Rita Wilson Burgin of Burnsville, North Carolina, along with his step parents, Jeff and Sheila Ethridge, he was born in Mitchell County, North Carolina on April 21, 1973.

Nolan was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Robert Earl Burgin and Maxie Burgin; and great-grandmother, Ethel Bryant.

Nolan was known to have been an amazing man and a hard worker, nothing seemed to stop him from doing what he wanted, whether it was hunting or, most of all, fishing.  Super generous and having had a big heart, Nolan would give to anyone in need, in fact, he never met a stranger.  He was a member of Faith Missionary Baptist Church in North Cove, which he loved the Lord and his church family.

Left to cherish his memories, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Deanna Cole; maternal grandparents, Robert and Ruby Wilson of Green Mountain in Yancey County; aunt, Pam Laws; uncle, Matt Wilson; aunt and uncle, Buster and Patty Burgin; step grandmother, Evelyn Ethridge; and numerous cousins and friends.  Nolan is also survived by his wonderful neighbors, Will Penland, Dexter Eggers and Tommy Vance; and last but not least, his canine companion, Dooley.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Greene and Pastor Matt Wilson officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.

At the request of the family, please, no flowers.  Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Nolan’s memory are asked to consider, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 North Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607 (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org), St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 (www.stjude.org) or Faith Missionary Baptist Church, C/O Billie Sue Cline, 13921 US Highway 221 North, Marion, North Carolina 28752.
