Nebo

Nicholas Wayne Hicks, born on July 31,1987, in McDowell County, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, doing what he loved. Those who loved him will remember him not only as a doting father, loving husband, and cherished son, but as a man whose deep-rooted patriotism and compassion for others defined every aspect of his life.

Nick's enthusiasm for life brought light into every heart he touched. He had a deep connection with nature, finding his serenity in hiking, boating, and working his family's generational land. His passion for knowledge always drove him to discover something new, and share that knowledge with the people he loved. Nick believed that being of service was the highest form of love, whether to family or strangers, and dedicated a large portion of life life to volunteering. He fed our souls with his love of cooking, always eager to share new recipes and favorite restaurants. Nick was an avid collector from a young age; his prize possessions were his Matchbox cars, which brought him great joy and peace.

Family was at the core of Nick's life. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marianna  Hicks, and their two wonderful children, Ainsley Ruth and Rayne. He also leaves behind two loving mothers, Lisa Hicks and Angie Hicks. Nicholas's family extends to his sisters, Stephanie, Victoria, Madison (Ricky), and Mackenzie, and his brother, Jaron. He was a treasured son-in-law to Nelson and Donna Bowen and a beloved grandson to Gwen Finley.

Nicholas's is preceded in death by his father, Jerald Hicks, as well as his grandparents, Eula and Melvin Hicks, and Jerry Ray Finley, who welcomed him into the eternal embrace of their love.

In celebration of Nicholas's life, a visitation will be held on March 12, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 3:00 PM at the Beam Celebration Center, located at 2170 Rutherford Road, Marion, NC 28752.
