Nancy Winchester

On the afternoon of Wednesday, August 7, 2019, Nancy McClure Winchester, age 79, of Marion, North Carolina, departed to be with the Lord at her residence.  Born in Detroit, Michigan on February 18, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Crawford and Opal Phelps McClure. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; one son-in-law; and one grandson-in-law.

A wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and Christian woman, Nancy truly loved her family.  She enjoyed the beauty of mountains and camping with her family and friends.  Nancy was a member of Marion Church of Christ.

On Sunday, August 11th, Nancy would have celebrated her 63rd anniversary with her loving husband, Will Winchester of the home.  She is also survived by her four children, Rhia Crawford (Phillip) of Marion, Lecia Greenway (Randy) of Rutherfordton, Tommy Winchester (Penny) of Spruce Pine and Kim Reel of Marion; nine grandchildren, Amy DePriest (Derrick), Matthew Crawford (Allye), Justin Crawford, Brooke Bobbitt, Krissy Loftis (Corey), Whitney Sorensen (Kevin), John Greenway (Dani), Tanner Winchester and Bryce Reel; seven great grandchildren, Jordan, TJ, Baylee, Boone, Kai, Hudson and Charleston; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Marion Church of Christ with Minister Steve Short officiating.  Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
