In the early morning hours of February 6, 2019, Nancy Howard Poteat, age 68, of Marion, North Carolina passed away at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. A native of McDowell County, Nancy was born on January 23, 1951 to the late Thomas and Martha Lockman Howard.
She is preceded in death by her two brothers, Bart and Jack Howard.
Nancy was a former member of Redeemed Free Will Baptist Church. She retired from Baxter’s following eighteen years of service. She loved to take walks in the woods and was always working on different crafts. Nancy will be remembered as a very caring person, and a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of forty-seven years, William “Bill” Poteat, three children, Kim Poteat (Michael Brown), Bobbie Poteat Dell (Billy English) and Brandon Poteat; her siblings, Tommy Howard (Shirley), Raymond Howard, Ann Howard Welborn, Roy Dean Howard (Wanda), Judy Owenby (Ken), Billy Howard (Blanche) and sisters-in-law, Betty and Gail Howard. Also surviving Nancy are four grandchildren, Josh, Sam, Elizabeth and Mariah; two great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Jim Ledford officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
