Our beautiful and precious Nancy Welch Lawing, of the Pleasant Gardens Community, went home to our Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 6, 2018 (her mother and father meeting her at the gates). She was the daughter of the late James and Ruby Padgett Welch.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her fur babies (who were like family to her), Mia and Max.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 43 years, Allan Lawing; two brothers, Rev. Jerry Welch (Renee) and her special brother, Jimmy Welch; mother-in-law, Betty Lawing; sisters-in-law, Irma Warren, Norma Lewis (Glenn) and Mary Jamison (Bo); several nieces and nephews, who she cherished deeply and they cherished her.
Nancy made friends with everyone she met. As a special education teacher during her career, she touched many children’s lives who kept up with her over the years. Nancy fought many battles with her health, but was a fighter. Through the pain, she would enjoy making others laugh because she loved to see everyone smile. Laughter and jokes were her best medicine. She shined bright until the very end. Nancy was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
A service to celebrate the life of Nancy will be held on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry Welch, Rev. Justin Lewis and Rev. Steve Hawkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
There will never be another Nancy, but we know the memories of her will stay with her family and friends. Fly high sweet Nancy, you will be forever missed. We will keep laughing, smiling and joking just for you. Thank you for ALWAYS being you.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Lawing’s memory are asked to consider, American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, Virginia 22312 or by visiting www.diabetes.org.
