Nancy Poteat Holland, age 74, of Marion, North Carolina passed away Sunday, June 24, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of McDowell County, Nancy was born on March 21, 1944 to Terrance Miles Poteat and Florence Moore Poteat.
Prior to becoming ill, Nancy had many hobbies including: painting rocks, going to yard sales and flea markets, growing her flowers and especially spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also loved leading others to the Lord.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by two brothers, Dennis Poteat and Bob Poteat and one nephew, Eric Poteat.
Those left behind to cherish Nancy’s memories are three children, Jeff Elliott and wife, Kimberly, Mark Elliott and wife, Rhonda and Lisa Holland and husband, Cody; sixteen grandchildren, Tori, Daniel, Jennifer, Brittany, Matthew, Justin, Natalie, Heather, Brooke, Tyler, Kelsey, Lindsey, Cody Jess, Colton, Chas and Brittney; seventeen great-grandchildren, Addison, Wylder, Makenzie, Ian, Eli, Lily, Emma, Jaden, Addison, Mason, Madison, Evan, Hanna, Kimmy, Ava, Scout and Avery; one brother, Doug Poteat; two sisters-in-law, Judy Poteat and Brenda Poteat; nieces and nephews, Paul, Sissy, Dennis, Lisa and April; and her cousin and best friend, Ann Moore.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018 in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Greg Withrow officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
