Mrs. Jerry McKinney

Jerry Murphrey McKinney, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at her residence in Marion.  The daughter of the late J.D. Murphrey and Corrine Coward Braxton, she was born in Pitt County, North Carolina on December 19, 1955.

Mrs. McKinney attended Praise Assembly of God in Morganton.  She truly loved the Lord and enjoyed studying anything pertaining to God.  For 22 years she had worked at several Wal Mart locations and eventually, following 5 years, retired from Baxter Health Care. 

Left to cherish her precious memories are her husband of 5 years, James “Jim” McKinney of the home; one daughter, Denissa Massey Gordy and her husband, Thomas of Morrisville, North Carolina; one stepson, Tony McKinney and his wife, Amber of Spruce Pine, North Carolina; and one stepdaughter, Brandi Forbes of Spruce Pine, North Carolina.  She is also survived by two grandsons, Gavin and Ian Gordy; one brother, Joseph Murphrey of Marion, North Carolina; one half-brother, Tucker Braxton of Kinston, North Carolina; and her three special canine companions, Jax, Mo and Bo Bo. 

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Praise Assembly of God, 873 US Highway 70, Morganton, North Carolina.
