Mollie Elizabeth Broadwell McDaniel was born in Marion, N.C., on January 7, 1965, to the late W. T. Broadwell, Jr. and Barbara Bolton Broadwell.
She spent her whole life roaming these hills and valleys as an amateur rock hound. Every extra container was filled with rocks and minerals and her mom was always removing them from the washing machine.
She never ignored a wounded or needy animal. There is an old sway-back horse on Goose Creek Road that owes his survival to Mollie. She walked him home one day after promising the former owner that she could take good care of him.
Mollie did not care about material things. She took and used only what she needed. Her family and friends knew they were welcome to whatever she had.
She also played her guitar until fighting the cancer took too much energy to be creative. We will miss that beautiful spirit and eyes that crinkled in a ready smile.
Mollie is survived by her mother, Barbara; her brother, William Broadwell III and wife, Angie. Other family members include a niece, Haley; cousins, Kenneth Hoffman, Lisa Hoffman, Rhonda Metcalf, Denise Gibson, Bobby Rumfelt, Keith Rumfelt and Amy Bryant; aunts, Cecilia Kellam, Carole Hoffman and Kathryn Gallion; and special people in her life, Carol Hensley and her daughter, Jessica, Jeannie Branch and Bobby Cunningham.
In keeping with Mollieâs wishes, no services are planned at this time.
Memorials may be made to McDowell Humane Society at 3751 NC 226 South, Marion NC 28752.
