Mildred Wilson

In the morning hours of Thursday, November 16, 2017 while surrounded by her loving family, Mildred Creson Wilson, age 88, of Old Fort, went home to be with the Lord at her residence.  The daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Hunter Creson, she was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on September 13, 1929.

A loving mother, grandmother, and sister, Mildred enjoyed playing golf, quilting and watching the Atlanta Braves play, but most of all, she took pride in spending time with her family and friends.  She was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church and had also been attending Liberty Free Will Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry Wilson, who passed away in 1985; and one son, Douglas Ray Wilson.

Mildred is survived by her two daughters, Annette Webb (Warren) of Linville; and Jennifer Wilson of Old Fort; her twin brother, William Mills Creson (Robbie) of Asheville; three sisters, Cartha Hill of Marion, Jean Holloway of Marion; and Doris Potter of Greenville, South Carolina.  She is also survived by one grandson, Daniel Ray Wilson (Eva) of Morganton; three great grandchildren; cousin John Hunter (Jo) of Marion; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service in Marion with Rev. Harold Webb officiating.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.  Interment will be held at McDowell Memorial Park.
