Mr. Mike Poteat, age 54, of the Glenwood Community, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital in Asheville, following a brief illness. His loving family was by his side. Born in Columbus, Ohio on January 07, 1966, he was the son of Lib “Granny” Poteat of Glenwood and the late Neal Poteat.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Corvin and Shawn Corvin.
An avid horse enthusiast who enjoyed working with Tennessee Walking horses, Mike was known by his family as having been the best dad and worlds best “paw-paw”.
He is survived by, in addition to his mother, the love of his life, Amy Fisher; one daughter, Taylor Poteat; one granddaughter who meant the world to him, Reagan Poteat; and Rosa Martinez (Taylor Roberts), who was like a daughter to him. Mr. Poteat is also survived by five brothers, Bernie Poteat (Anne), Jack Corvin (Roberta), Carl Corvin (Becky), Lee Adams (Tonya) and Tim Corvin; two sisters, Kathy Savage (Dennis) and Robin Meyers (Greg); numerous nieces and nephews; along with extended family members.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Jim Brewer officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
