Michelle Dawn Parker Hunt, 55 of Marion, went to be with the Lord on the morning of Saturday, January 25, 2025 at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock. After a two year battle with breast cancer, Michelle with one last beautiful smile to her loving family beside her, crossed over the river as gently as a soft summer breeze.
Michelle was born in Buncombe County to Howard Parker and the late Frances Pittman Parker. She grew up in Old Fort to a large, close-knit family with many cousins. She loved her Church family as she was a member of Old Fort Wesleyan Church where she attended until her health declined. Those of us who knew her would describe Michelle as loving, nurturing, funny, sweet, caring, warm, and especially kind.
While working for McDowell County Schools and Early Head Start for more than twenty years, Michelle touched the lives of many. With a warm, nurturing love for children, she could gain their trust immediately. After a long, full day in the classroom, she would sometimes come home to share funny or not so funny events of the day. With a grin and sparkle in her eye as she talked about children, you knew how much she loved them. God had truly placed her in the path of so many to impress upon. Her co-workers adored her and she became friends with so many.
Michelle was very proud of her children, Matthew and Mariah. She spent many hours watching or coaching them on the ballfields and in the gyms. Camping adventures usually involved having a crowd around laughing, storytelling, and good food was always present. Trips to the beach were special and filled with fun. She loved her home and neighborhood in Pleasant Gardens but we know it will never compare to the mansion our Saviour has prepared for her now.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of thirty two years, Eric Hunt. Son, Matthew and daughter, Mariah. A brother, Jeffrey Parker (Christina). Nieces, Taylor McKinney (Caleb) and Talma Parker. Nephew, Caleb Parker (Sierra). Aunts, Sylvia Vess and Shirley Pittman. A special cousin/sister, Trina Warren. Many cousins, friends, co-workers and church family as well as a great-niece, due in February, who she was so excited to meet- Hazel Parker.
Michelle had a special prayer that she has prayed for a long time: “Lord, I want to go to Heaven and all my family and friends to go too!”
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Lackey Town Missionary Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the church with Rev.
