Michael Wayne Owensby

Michael Wayne Owensby, loving husband, father and grandfather, departed to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Friday, June 7, 2019 at Mission Hospital-McDowell.  Born in McDowell County on April 25, 1953, he was the son of the late Jonas and Anna Webb Owensby. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Kessel and Janie Roper; and two nephews, Scotty Monn and Douglas Owensby.

An avid fisherman and deer hunter, Michael was known for his contagious smile that he always had.  He was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Marion. 

Mr. Owensby is survived by his loving wife, Joan Owensby; one son, Matthew Owensby; one daughter, Brittany Laws (Caydon); four siblings, Ann Hollifield (Bruce), Jerry Owensby (Ginger), Kathy Hovis and Donna Mace; five grandchildren, Braydon, Jessie, Rowdy, Sadie and Axel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Amazing Grace Baptist Church in Marion.
