Michael "Mike" Ernest Cantey

Michael “Mike” Ernest Cantey, age 59, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at Carolinas HealthCare System-Blue Ridge in Morganton with his loved ones at his side on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.  A native of Kingstree, South Carolina, born March 7, 1959, he was the son of Dora Ann Huggins Cantey of Asheville, North Carolina and the late Fred Henry Cantey. 

An inspiring person, Mike was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and friend.  Always wanting to help others succeed, Mike owned and operated Lowcountry  Dining and Catering in Marion and will be remembered for his love of cooking for others and making friends.

Mr. Cantey is survived by in addition to his mother, his close and loving companion, Sandy Gibbs; three sons, Christopher Cantey of San Gabriel, California, Ryan Cantey of Jacksonville, Florida and Travis Cantey of Los Angeles, California; and three brothers, Ed Cantey (Jen) of Lake Wiley, South Carolina, Freddy Cantey (Pat) of Marion, North Carolina and Jerry Cantey of Asheville, North Carolina.  He is also survived by the mother of his children and special friend, Lazette Welch; special friends, Bill, Mike, Dirk and Bruce; numerous nieces and nephews, and his canine partner, “Sir Maximus”.
