Michael Bill Cox

Michael Bill Cox, 64, of Marion, passed away at Autumn Care of Drexel on Friday, July 21, 2023.

Michael was born to the late Bill Wylie Cox and the late Joretta Hefner Cox in McDowell County on October 28, 1958.

Michael was a member of Pleasant Hill Methodist Church. He retired from the NC Department of Public Safety as a corrections officer and was a public safety officer at his retirement. He later ran a taxi business. Michael enjoyed studying history and being around people.

Preceding him in death including his parents are his wife, Kathy Goforth Cox and three brothers, Gary Cox, James Cox and Dennis Cox.

Cherishing his memories are his sister, Melanie Cox Webb and her husband Jerry Lee Webb along with a number of nephews.

A funeral service will be held at Pleasant Hill Methodist Church on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at 11:00 am with the Rev. Dennis Burleson and Preacher John Hutchins officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
