Matthew Benjamin Potter, age 46, of Marion, NC passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Matthew was born November 7, 1971 in Chehalis, WA to Benjamin “Benny” Potter and Marilyn Ranta Potter both of Marion, NC. Prior to his illness, he worked as a mechanic for Tom Johnson Camping World. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed cooking, listening to music and tinkering on things, especially cars. He was great at fixing things and very skilled with his hands. Matthew was funny, had a good sense of humor, lots of fun and he was always the life of the party. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, those left behind to cherish his memories are two beloved children, who were his pride and joy, Ivy and Fuller Potter and their mother, Heather; two sisters, Celia Potter-Clark and Donna Potter; one brother, Blain Potter and wife, Lindy; two aunts, Mary Barton Goodman and Melody Porterfield; three uncles, Dennis Ranta (Judy), Daniel Potter (Marya) and Paul Potter (Susie); special family members, Paul Ranta (Elizabeth) and Gray Johansen (Kathy); three best friends, Greg Edwards, Kelly Baker and Lori Frommer; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other friends and relatives.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Matthew’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Steve Hawkins officiating.
