Maryann Manis

November 18, 1945 — July 30, 2018

Maryann Manis, loving and devoted mother and grandmother, became an angel on the night of Monday, July 30, 2018 at Carolinas HealthCare System-Blue Ridge in Morganton with her family at her side.  The daughter of the late John and Magnolia Trammel Kates, Maryann was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on November 18, 1945.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Richard Manis.

Known as being a full-time mother, Maryann loved to talk about her children and grandchildren.  She was an avid angel collector, Elvis Pressley fan and enjoyed watching her show, COPS on television, but most of all, she loved reading her Bible.  She was a member of Refuge Baptist Church in Pleasant Gardens.

Left to cherish her precious memories are three sons, John Manis (Denise) of Drexel, Andy Manis (Laura) of Marion and Roger Manis, Jr. of Marion; one daughter, Michelle Huggins (Jeremy) of Shelby; eleven grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifelong friends, Ronnie and Sherry Gentry.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service.

A service to celebrate the life of Maryann will be held on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Refuge Baptist Church with Pastor Ronnie Gentry and Pastor Danny Castle officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
