Mary Williams

On the evening of Sunday, December 1, 2019, Mary Gouge Williams, age 85, of Marion, North Carolina passed away at Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville with her loving family by her side. A native of McDowell County, Mary was born on November 9, 1934 to the late Zedie and Artie Webb Gouge.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Williams who passed away in 2009 and also her brother, Dean Gouge.

Mary was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church and loved her church family dearly. She enjoyed being with her family and helping people was second nature to her.

Left to cherish her memories are one daughter, Deana Peek (David); two grandchildren, Danielle Peek (Luke) and Zachary Peek (Adrianne); three great-grandchildren, Jaxon, Maddox and Bonnie; a number of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Kermit Wilcox.

A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverends Eric Grindstaff and Bill Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mary’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
