Mary E. Stevens

Mary Elizabeth Nelms Stevens, age 87, of Black Mountain, NC passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Mountain Ridge Health & Rehab.

Mrs. Stevens was born August 31, 1930 in Buncombe County, NC to the late Gordon Thornton Nelms and Emma Lou Thompson Nelms. 

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, George William Stevens, Sr.; one son, Richard Stevens; and one daughter, Patricia Stevens-Frisbee.

Left behind to cherish her memories are three children, George Stevens, Jr., Debbie Pettit and Sharon Dalton; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Stevens, Scotty Stevens, Chris Stevens, Tiffany Frisbee, Amanda Frisbee and Jason Frisbee; seven great-grandchildren, Cambrie, Kaelee, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Hunter, Gabe and Sydnee; and one brother, Herbert Nelms and wife, Corrine.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Lackey Town Missionary Baptist Church in Old Fort with Pastor Jeffrey Parker officiating.
