Mary Jane Rathbone

Mary Jane Wall Rathbone, age 79, of Marion, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Monday, July 31, 2017 at the Brian Center of Spruce Pine. A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born August 12, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Colin and Venice Thomas Wall.

Always happy and excited by the least little thing, Mary loved flowers, animals and the Lord, but most of all, her children and grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Reed Rathbone, who passed away in 1981.

She is survived by three children, Nelda Rathbone (Tim), Margaret Rathbone and Colin Rathbone; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later date.  Mary will be laid to rest next to her husband Reed, at McDowell Memorial Park. 

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Rathbone’s memory are asked to consider an animal charity of one’s choice.
