Mary Nell Martin Thompson

On the morning of Wednesday, October 19, 2022, Mary Nell Martin Thompson, 96, passed away at Deer Park Health and Rehabilitation in Marion.

Mary Nell was born in Rutherford County on September 11, 1926 to the late James Martin and Pearley Mae Barlowe Martin. She was a very devoted Christian woman who loved the Lord. Mary Nell enjoyed watching sports, especially the Atlanta Braves and the Carolina Tarheels. She was always surrounded by family, which she loved very much. Mary Nell will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Vance Drew Thompson Sr., a daughter, Glenda Mace and a son, Vance Drew Thompson Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory are five sons; Aaron Thompson (Bootsie), Waynon Thompson (Peggy), Dennis Thompson (Tina), James Thompson Sr. (Ruby) and Pete Thompson (Amanda); two brothers Ralph Martin and Roy Martin (Patricia); also numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 21, 2022 in the chapel of Beam Funeral Service at 3:00 pm with Joyce Davis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm in the chapel.
