Mary Ellen "MeMe" Stevenson

Mary Ellen “MeMe” Stevenson, age 93, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, December 03, 2019 at her residence with her loved ones by her side.  Born in Los Angeles, California on March 23, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Georgia Walker Silvas. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Stevenson, who passed away on March 07, 2011; and one daughter, Phyllis Kay Stevenson (January 30, 2017).

A loving and caring mother and grandmother, Mary was known by her loved ones as “MeMe”.  In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting. 

Left to cherish her precious memories are her son, Jerry Stevenson of Marion; two granddaughters, Michele Shaw and Patricia McEntire, both of Marion; and two great grandchildren, Joshua McNeill and Sydney McEntire. 

In keeping with Mary’s wishes, her cremains will be placed in Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Leonard.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mrs. Stevenson’s memory are asked to consider a Hospice & Palliative Care of one’s choice.
