Mary Alice Mace

On the night of Friday, April 02, 2021, Mary Alice Mace, age 61, of Marion, North Carolina, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven where she was met by her parents, George and Janice Young Mace; and her infant granddaughter, Faith.  Mary was a native of Newport News, Virginia and was born on May 27, 1959. 

Mary, who always made sure her family and those in need were taken care of, proudly served with the American Red Cross as a coordinator.  An amazing homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and making quilts, playing her mandolin and guitar, baking and oil painting.  Mary had painted a mural at North Cove Elementary School and at many different churches.  She was a member of Redeemed Free Will Baptist Church.

Left to cherish her precious memories, her loving husband of 10 years, James Roy Mace; one son, Stephen Duncan (Brandi); one daughter, Beth Sherlin (Dusty); a special son, Nick; and three grandchildren, Sarah Duncan, Jonah Sherlin and Hannah Duncan.  Also surviving are three sisters, Helen Clark (Clifford), Judy Meeker (Gerald) and Kandi Alexander (Brian); and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 05, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry McClain and Rev. Ray Stockton officiating.  Interment will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
