Mary Edwards Greene

On Monday, January 24, 2022, Mary Juanita Edwards Greene, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, while surrounded by her family.

Mary was born in Bakersville, NC on August 15, 1940, to the late Carson and Nettie Ollis Edwards. She was married to her husband of sixty years, William Eugene Greene, who passed away in 2019. Mary was a member of West Court Baptist Church in Marion. She loved reading her bible, cooking, and going on picnics. Most of all, she loved her Church, family, and spending time with her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Ledford and Dorothy Young; and a brother, James Edwards.

She is survived by four children, Sherry Glenn and husband Gerald, Pamela Stamey and husband Johnny, Donna Gail Manley and husband Ed, and Nichole Lewis; a sister, Gail McKinney and husband Rev. Bobby McKinney; grandchildren, Luke Glenn, Will Glenn, Jacob Glenn, Erica Hong, Emily Oakes, Jessica Wright, Jonah Stokely, Nathaniel Stokely, Zech Stokely, and Marianna Hudgins; great grandchildren, Lila, Grayer, Hannah, Malachi, Emma, Adeline, Yael, and Ezekiel Wright, Shae Hong Jr., and Tate Oakes, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service to celebrate Mary’s homegoing will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2022, at West Court Baptist Church in Marion. Rev. Jeff Burchette and Rev. Jody McGaha will officiate. Interment will follow at West Court Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Church.
