Mary Jane Carson

Mary Jane Carson, 71, of Marion, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at UNC Health Blue Ridge in Morganton.

A native of Marion, she was born December 8, 1951 to the late Vernon Carson and Mary Alder Wilkerson Carson.

Mary worked in furniture factories and cotton mills most of her life. She enjoyed sitting on the porch and drinking coffee. She loved working with her flowers and playing cards where she made many friends. Her grandchildren brought her the most joy and she cared and prayed for them daily.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two children, Loreatha Carson and Charlene Carson; brother, Tommy Carson; and significant other, Governor Conley.

She is survived by four children, Lisa Carson, Charlet Carson, Tony Conley, and Chrystal Williams; eight grandchildren, Iesha, Jaiden, Oronde, Davonte, Akissi, CJ, Duke, and Tanisha; thirteen great grandchildren, Jaiveon, Journey, Dante, Rhigail, Savyn, Baylee, Elijah, Amani, Paxton, Kameron, Karisma, Myles, and Tanner; three siblings, Regina Boyce, Margie Carson, and Vernon Carson, Jr.; and special cousin and friend, Margaret Morrison.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service. Rev. James Arthur Boyce will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
