We mourn the loss of a beautiful light, Marsha Ann Bartlett, who was wrapped in eternal peace onApril 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family members.
Born on May 18, 1949 the daughter of Lee and Mary Lee Grindstaff Ledford, Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Rita Ledford (Jim) Phillips, and her brother Richard (Barbara) Ledford. Those left to cherish her memory include her son Chrispian Torre (Kristina Steinhagen) Bartlett of Wilmington, NC, her nephews John (Portia) Phillips and James (Sandy) Phillips, her nieces Darla (Jeff) Harding and Darci (Karl) Buchanan and a sea of extended family members and friends who will miss her smile, compassion and witty brand of humor.
Throughout her life, Marsha provided care and support for others. A loving mother and friend “Marsh’ie” as she was affectionately called, volunteered at The Asheville Animal Shelter, The Penny Center (Candler) and countless other benevolent organizations. Professionally, Marsha Ann worked as a bookkeeper for many years with CPA firms in Asheville and Burnsville, NC. In addition, she was a savvy real estate investor, owning and renovating many properties in the Asheville area from Haw Creek to Biltmore. Many would say Marsha had a knack for finding houses that just needed a little TLC. Her passion was: “A good ole brick ranch with good bones,” and boy did she successfully work a few of those through her time in Asheville, each with blood, sweat and tears.
A favorite memory would include times in her home in Haw Creek, surrounded by the affection of her feral rescue cats (Elvis & Pricilla) on the porch, with her loving pug Otis by her side. She even had visiting black bears to occasionally spend the night under the back deck. Marsha loved people and animals alike, and would never hesitate a moment to stand up for the less fortunate, of both kinds.
Arrangements by Beam funeral home, Marion NC. A service and celebration of her life will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of the Blue Ridge in Spruce Pine are welcome.
