Mark "Bones" Duncan

Mark “Bones” Duncan, age 59, of Marion, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at The McDowell Hospital.  A native and lifelong resident of McDowell County, Mark was born December 10, 1956 and was the son of the late Rev. Earl Duncan and Corinne Ellis Duncan. 

In his spare time, Mark enjoyed reading, camping and spending time on the beach.  He was an avid Indian artifact collector and a UNC Tar Heels fan.  He was preceded in death by, in addition to his parents, a brother, Jon Duncan.

Mark is survived by one sister, Rebekkah Duncan; one niece, Alicia Burnette and husband, Jeff; great niece and nephews, Caleb Proctor, Kiersten Proctor, David Burnette, Dillon Burnette, Carter Burnette and Carson Burnette; and a special friend, Amelia Fox.

A memorial service to honor the life of Mr. Duncan will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at Glenwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Keith Jamison officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., one hour prior to the service, at the church.
