Marie "Ree" Wilder Rutherford

Marie “Ree” Wilder Rutherford, age 76, of Nebo, North Carolina, loving mother, grandmother and friend, gained her heavenly wings on the morning of Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at her residence.  Her loving family was by her side.   Born in Burke County, North Carolina on February 01, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Rutherford, Sr. and Maude Hemphill Rutherford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, Harold McKinley Rutherford (2005); eight brothers and seven sisters.

Marie was educated in Morganton Schools and a 1961 graduate of Glen Alpine Schools.  She continued her education with a gift of helping others by taking them on many shopping outings, social eating and enjoying their company up until October 06, 2019.  She retired from Henredon Furniture Company in Morganton after serving 35 years of service.

Left to cherish her precious memories are her three children, Ronnie Scott, Lolita Armstrong and her husband, Charles and Randy Scott; five grandchildren, Nenishia, Sheenia, Rosalynn, Shania and Sabina; and fifteen great grandchildren, Davonte, Malaysia, Dorrean, Ahmariah, Nyree, Shilah, Cameron, Nathaniel, Jr., Donte, Keylan, Zoey, Jarod, Cason, Braylen and Oni; and one boy on the way.  She is also survived by special friend, Carla Harper; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. 

A service to celebrate the life of Marie will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Corpening Chapel AME Church, 2961 Corpening Chapel Road, Morganton with Rev. Renee Shade officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., thirty minutes prior to the service, at the church.
