On the night of Friday, May 17, 2019, while surrounded by her close loved ones, Marie Cochran Nations, age 91, of the Montford Cove Community, departed to be with the Lord at Mission Hospital-McDowell. The daughter of the late Nathien and Bertha Linsey Cochran, Marie was born in Swain County, North Carolina on June 16, 1927.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rev. Arvle B. Nations (January 4, 2014); one daughter, Shirley Nations Pollard (June 18, 2017); and numerous siblings.
Marie loved sewing and gardening, enjoyed ministering to those in need and took great pride in cooking for others. She was a member of Nealsville Church of God.
Those left to cherish her precious memories are three sons, Arvle B. Nations, Jr. and (Naomi) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, James R. Nations (Susan) of Marion, North Carolina and Benny Nations (Keith Earnhardt) of North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Eric Trivett, Tonya Nations, Jennifer Taylor and Cody Nations; and several great and great-great grandchildren. Marie is also survived by her feline partner, “Joy”, who brought joy to her.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Nealsville Church of God with Pastor Travis Cooke officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Rev. Arvle Nations.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service in Marion.
