Marie Orr Jones

     Marie Orr Jones, 95, of Marion, NC, passed away Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at Autumn Care of Marion.

     Marie was born on March 8, 1927 to the late William Arthur Orr and Flora Lee Thomas Orr. She was married to her husband of 43 years, Gerald David Jones, who preceded her in death. Marie was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Marion, where she was a member of the ladies’ auxiliary. Marie spent many hours on her front porch swing and enjoyed crocheting and flower gardening.

     In addition to her husband and parents, Marie was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and B.E. Orr.

     She is survived by four daughters, Judy Haney of Stockbridge, Georgia, Sandra McMahan and husband Gary of Marion, Maria Wetmore of Cape Coral, Florida, and Darlene Wills of Marion; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

     A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at First Freewill Baptist Church in Marion on Baldwin Avenue. Pastor Brian Byrd will officiate.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
