Maria Rufina Carreon Ramirez

Maria Rufina Carreon Ramirez, 80, of Old Fort, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2024 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

She was born in Mexico on September 6, 1943 to the late Juan Carreon and Micaela Galvan. She was also preceded in death by one son.

Maria attended Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church and loved going to church. She will be remembered for praying the rosary daily. She enjoyed cooking and baking as well as doing crafts and sewing. Maria always had a wonderful garden, and she took great pride in her plants. Most of all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She looked forward to trips to Mexico to visit family.

She is survived by her loving family that includes five daughters, four sons, two sisters, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild on the way.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Beam Celebration Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church with Father Carl Kaltreider officiating. Burial will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery.

Maria nació en Mexico, el 6 de Septiembre de 1943, hija de los fallecidos padres Juan Carreon y Micaela Galvan. Le falleció un hijo con anterioridad.

Maria fue una fiel miembra de la Iglesia catolica Nuestra Señora de los Angeles. Amava ir a la Iglesia y sera recordada por resar el rosario adiario. Disfrutaba cosinar, hornear, hacer manualidades y tejer. Mariamantenia un jardin maravilloso y se enorgullecia de sus plantas. Mas que a nada, ella amava a su familia y disfrutaba pasar tiempo con ellos. Ella esperaba viajar pronto a Mexico y visitar a su familia.

Le sobrevive su amada familia de cinco hijas, cuatro hijos, dos hermanas, numerosos nietos, bisnietos y un tataranieto por venir.

La familia recibirá a los amigos el sabado, 3 de Febrero, 2024 de 11:00am a 12:30pm. En Beam Celebration Center. A seguir una misa de cristiana sepultura se llevará a cabo a la 1:00pm. En la Iglesia católica Nuestra Señora de los Angeles. El Padre Carl Kaltreider oficiara la misa. El entierro seguirá en el cementerio Murphy's Chapel.
