Margot Hilde Manig

Margot Hilde Gorchs Manig, age 95, of Nebo, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Burke Hospice & Palliative Care in Valdese, North Carolina.  Her loving family was by her side.  Born in Dortmund, Germany on April 04, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Helene Adler Gorchs. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Erich Manig, who passed away on October 31, 2011.

Margot, who was full of life, sweet, kind and generous, loved music and traveling.  She survived a war, and had moved numerous times across the globe, eventually settling in California.  In 2017 Margot moved to Nebo, North Carolina to live with her daughter. 

Left to cherish her precious memories are her two daughters, Christina Altman (Steven) of Nebo, North Carolina and Annegret Murphy of Sun City, California; five grandchildren, Victoria Taylor, Nicholas Taylor, Erika Silo, Stefan Fornalski and Christiane Rios; seven great grandchildren; one great grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of Margot’s life will be held in the summer.
