Margaret Thomas Tabor, 84, of Old Fort, passed away Sunday evening, May 12, 2024 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center.
She was born in McDowell County on May 1, 1940 to the late Hicks Allison and Katherine Grindstaff Allison. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Thomas; second husband, James Tabor; her sister, Betty Marlowe; grandson, Matthew Gossett; and daughter-in-law, Angela Thomas.
Margaret was a very compassionate lady who always had a big smile to brighten the lives of those around her. She had the unique ability to nourish and grow people, plants, and animals. She had a true green thumb, and she will be remembered as being a wonderful mother and grandmother. Margaret was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was caring, yet stubborn at times. She was loved by all, and will be missed by all. She was also a member of Old Fort First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her three children, Chris Thomas, Nancy Gossett, and Paul Thomas (Pamela); three grandchildren, Scott Thomas, Chase Gossett (Danielle), and Katie Straughan (Dustin); four great grandchildren, Jayden Straughan, Jackson Thomas, Brody Gossett, and Jordyn Straughan; and special family friend, Jamie Gossett.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024 in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Chase Laney officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m.
