Margaret Lucille "Cindy" Fender

Margaret Lucille “Cindy” Fender, age 93, of Marion, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord and her sisters on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Catawba Regional Hospice with her loving family by her side. A native of McDowell County, Lucille was born on October 21, 1924 to the late Roy and Sue Lawing Fender.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Violet Henderson and Viola Wister; and a niece Pat Hertzak.

Lucille loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school.  She was employed with AT&T as an auditor for over forty years. She also had an immense love for animals.

Those left to cherish her memories are one brother, Claude Fender (Thelma); three nieces, Pam Tipton (Norman), Deborah Brown and Linda Smith (Clark); one nephew, Michael Henderson. Also surviving Lucille are a number of great nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate Lucille’s life will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Harmony Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Freddie Williams officiating and assisted by Reverend Gary Webb. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at Harmony Grove Baptist Church cemetery.
