Margaret Elizabeth "Peggy" Brown Blankenship

Margaret Elizabeth “Peggy” Brown Blankenship, 85, of Marion, passed away Monday, January 8, 2024 at Mission Hospital with her family by her side.

A native of McDowell County,  Peggy was born May 13, 1938 to the late Romulas "Fate" Brown and Belle English Brown. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Roderick Burton Brown.

She was a graduate of North Cove High School and Appalachian State University Teacher’s College. Peggy was a faithful member of Concord United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher as well as on a number of church committees. She retired from teaching in 1994 following many years of service in the McDowell County School System. Peggy also enjoyed sewing and quilting.

She is survived by her son, Burton Blankenship and wife Vickie; and her grandson, Avery Blankenship.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Concord United Methodist Church with Rev. Chester West officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m.
