Margaret Augusta Brown Surratt

Margaret Augusta Brown Surratt, 83, of Old Fort, North Carolina, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at Mission Hospital McDowell.

She was born in McDowell County on May 14, 1939 to the late George Washington Brown and Effie Mae McKinney Brown.

Margaret was a very Godly woman who read her Bible daily and prayed often. She could often be heard praying in her room at night. She loved gardens and flowers, and she enjoyed sewing and working word search puzzles. More than anything, she loved her family with her whole heart. Spending time with her grandchildren brought her the most joy.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, William Earl Surratt; a son, Earl Gerald Brown; and all of her brothers and sisters.

She is survived by three children, William Surratt (Crystal), Amy Lee (Rocky), and Gail Robinson (Jimmy); sixteen grandchildren, Kelsey Biddix, Rebecca Robinson, Levi Lee, Jimmy Robinson, Charles “Buddy” Robinson, Brandy Robinson, Ashley Robinson, Amy Robinson, Frankie Robinson, Kenneth “Ken Ken” Robinson, Willie Robinson, Tammy Robinson, Bryan Robinson, Chloe Rich, Haley Ray, and McKenzie Rich; and fourteen great grandchildren.

A private graveside service will be held at North Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.
