Mae Edwards Randolph “Mamaw”, age 94, of Marion, NC went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 19, 2024.
She devoted her life to the Lord. She grew up in the Beelog community of Yancey County with her parents Andrew and Carrie, 5 sisters, and 2 brothers. She learned the value of hard work, and a caring family, living in that small community. Church was an important part of their life, and she carried that forward in her own family.
She was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Ruby Deyton, Delma Williams, Ethel Pate, Ruth Riddle, Lillian Spencer, Albert Edwards and Phillip Edwards; her husband Briscoe and her daughter Amelia Randolph Pouliot and son-in-law Richard Pouliot. She is survived by her son David Randolph (Debbie), grandchildren Renée Pouliot Bridges (Jim), Chris Pouliot (Kristi), Derrick Randolph, Phillip Randolph (Stephanie), six great-grandchildren (Uriah, Logan, Maddison Pouliot, Karley, Kaleb, Karrie Randolph) and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was a homemaker, who enjoyed gardening, quilting, and cooking for her family and anyone who would join her at the table. She valued having fresh vegetables on the table, especially from her very own garden. We have many fond memories of stringing beans on the porch, in preparation for canning. Food was her love language. No one left Mamaw’s house hungry, or empty-handed. She enjoyed a house full of people, laughter, and love.
She loved people, and enjoyed spending time with friends and connecting to the community. She worked at Roses as a supervisor for 30+ years.
She had a green thumb, and enjoyed growing flowers of all varieties. She loved sharing her flowers, and would often make small arrangements to take to the homebound of her church and community. She ensured that the family graves were always decorated with beautiful flowers.
She was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church, active in teaching the Ladies Senior Sunday School Class, WMU, and serving as assistant librarian. She loved singing praises to the Lord. Even when she was bedridden, she would sing His praises!
Mae was a devoted prayer warrior. She prayed daily for each family member, and for those in need at church and in the community. Over the years, you could see her prayer journals filled on every page with her heart-felt prayers.
While we will miss her presence here, we rejoice that she has received her final healing, and is in Heaven with the Saints!
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Rev. Roger Hayley and Rev. Richard Anderson officiating.
