Mae Fender Miller, age 92, of Marion, North Carolina passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital. A native of Yancey County, Mae was born on January 22, 1927 to the late George and Winnie Bailey Fender.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Miller.
Mae was a member of the Fairview Free Will Baptist Church for sixty-eight years, where she served as President of Ladies Auxiliary and she also served as church clerk, Sunday school and Bible school teacher and was a member of the choir. She loved her Pastor’s and enjoyed feeding them. She formally worked at the Nebo Elementary School cafeteria and later retired from Southern Devices. Mae enjoyed visiting the sick and elderly and loved quilting and traveling. Her world revolved around her church and family and she will be greatly missed.
Mae was survived by her four children, Brenda Stevens (Jerry), Larry Miller (Betty Jane), Wayne Miller (Betty) and Debbie Harris (Bobby); one brother, Coy Fender (Lucille); and her grandchildren, Wendy Stevens, Jerry Stevens (Allison), Lorie Schneeberger (Dru), Eric Miller (Shea), Derick Miller, Todd Miller (Amy) and Sissy Honeycutt (Travis). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Kaylee Burnette, Taylor Arrowood (Coleman), Issac Valadez, Zoe Miller, T.J. Miller, Alexa Honeycutt, Maxton Honeycutt, Peyton Miller, Sierra Miller, Ava Schneeberger, Jackson Schneeberger and great-great grandchildren, Silas Burnette and baby Arrowood on the way and a number of nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Barbara Everhart.
A funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Brandon Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral in Marion.
