Mae Wylie Lackey, loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the age of 66. The daughter of the late Benjamin and Hazel Trantham Wylie, she was born in McDowell County, North Carolina on March 8, 1951.
Known to be very artistic, Mae enjoyed making jewelry, painting and graphic designs. She was the co-owner of Grace Designs in Marion. She loved nature, but most of all, spending time with her family. Mae was a lifelong member of Clinchfield United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and proudly volunteered in the soup kitchen ministry.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Frank Lackey; four children, Ben Webb (Ginger), Andrea Webb, Wesley Matthew Webb and Blake Lackey (Nicole); one brother Phil Wylie (Linda); and five grandchildren, Bailey Webb, Harper Webb, Stella Webb, Ava Lackey and Peyton Lackey.
A celebration to honor the life of Miss Mae will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Clinchfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Mathews officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the church.
Flowers are acceptable and appreciated.
