Madeline Winston Moses Hicks

Madeline Winston Moses Hicks of Morganton passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022. Madeline was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia on June 2, 1944 to the late Alfred Camel Moses and the late Ella Caroline Stamey. Madeline was a member of Walker Road Baptist Church and was known to be very outspoken and had a wicked sense of humor. Her cooking was unrivalled, she had the best biscuits, dressing and chicken and dumplings. She was a fiercely protective, affectionate and loyal Mother and Grandmother.

Those left to cherish her memory are her companion, Thomas Rutherford; two children, Arvin Hicks III and Amy Hicks (John Kim); one sister Juanita Jordan; five grandchildren, Ashley Boykin (B.J.), Jesse Hicks (Kylie), Cameron Hicks Kim, Sebastian Hicks Kim, and Griffin Hicks Kim; five great grandchildren, Daphne Boykin, Winnie Boykin, Bennie Boykin, Gannon Hicks and Sadie Hicks along with her beloved dog Coco.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Hill Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Lewis officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the church.
