Luther Logan, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2016, at his home in Old Fort following declining health. Everyone knew him as "Mr. Luther" who was well known and respected in his community. Luther had a deep devotion for his country. He served in the United States Army in World War II.
He retired from the Federal Post Office in Washington, DC. Afterwards, Luther continued his career in mechanics in which he took great pride. Through the years, he had the reputation of treating all individuals fairly and with respect. Luther's success in his business can be directly attributed to his work ethic and to his natural mechanical ability. His attention to detail was legendary. It was important to Luther that he always left his customers satisfied. He truly cherished the friendships he developed through the years.
Luther possessed a deep and abiding love for his family and for His God. He was a man of faith who believed in power and strength of the Lord Jesus Christ and the beauty and peace that awaited him after leaving this world. Caring for others and showing compassion through the years was proof that Luther was a true philanthropist. In his later years, he became an avid reader and enjoyed working outdoors. "Mr. Luther" will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A homecoming service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Old Fort Wesleyan Church with Rev. Don Massingill officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., prior to the service, at the church.
