Lucille Lowery Smith, age 102, was born on August 26, 1922, in McDowell County, passed away peacefully on November 21 2024, at Summerset Court Nursing. Lucille, affectionately known for her warmth and generosity, was a cherished member of her community and a beloved aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
Throughout life, Lucille found joy in the simple pleasures of sewing and quilting, skills she honed over many years. Her love for cooking was evident, as she was known as a wonderful cook, always ready to prepare meals that brought family and friends together around the table. Lucille's dedication to her hobbies reflected her nurturing spirit and desire to create comfort for those she loved.
A longtime member of the Yancey St. Baptist Church, Lucille was proud of her faith and the role it played in her life. This commitment to her spiritual community was a significant part of who she was, and it brought her great fulfillment and joy.
Lucille is preceded in death by her brothers, Fred, Sam, Vernon, Cecil, and Ted Lowery, and her sisters, Cora Moore and Violet Penley. Their memories remain cherished in the hearts of those who knew them.
Visitation will be held on November 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Beam Funeral Service & Crematory in Marion, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Lucille’s spirit will continue to live on through the many lives she touched, and her legacy of love and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
