On the afternoon of Sunday, December 29, 2019, Mrs. Louise Lockey Hollifield Haynes, age 90 of the Turkey Cove Community, went home to be with the Lord at her residence with her loving family by her side. The daughter of the late Charlie Hollifield and Dessie Demona Huskins Hollifield, she was born in McDowell County on April 22, 1929.
Having a energetic personality, Louise was an avid home baker and canner. A loving wife and aunt, she was very proud of her family and loved them dearly. She retired from Coats American in North Cove, and was a member of Turkey Cove Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Louise is preceded in death by her loving husband, Boyce Haynes.
Left to cherish her precious memories are her nieces Sandra Earley McKinney (Oscar), and Demona Earley Grindstaff, and nephews Ronald McKinney, David McKinney (Marilyn), Reverend Charles Hollifield (Linda), Kenneth Hollifield (Ava), Paul Hollifield (Shirley), Lee Holifield (Shirley), and Jerry Hollifield, as well as a number of great nieces and nephews.
A funeral service to celebrate Louise’s homegoing will be held on Friday January 03, 2020, at 3:00 P.M. at Turkey Cove Baptist Church with Reverend David Edwards, and Reverend Bruce Cannon officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow the service at Turkey Cove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved Boyce.
At all other times, the family will be receiving friends at the home of Demona Grindstaff, 858 NC 226 A, Marion, North Carolina 28752.
