Lou Ann Barlowe

On the evening of Friday, May 13, 2022, Lou Ann Smith Barlowe went home to be with the Lord with her family by her side. A native of McDowell County, Lou was born on May 11, 1954 to the late Ernest and Selma Jenkins Smith. 

Lou was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She enjoyed shopping, visiting yard sales and thrift shops. Lou was a loving wife, mother and sister. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of forty-nine years, Don L. Barlowe; one daughter, Donna Poteat (William); two sisters, Twillia Moore (Tony), Rosetta Wilson (Danny); two brothers, Archie Smith (Sandra) and Richard Smith (Becky); Oliver Grant, who she thought of as a grandson. 

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tom Walker officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at the Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
