Lois Marlow

On the evening of Tuesday, August 13, 2019, Lois Burleson Marlow, age 83, of Marion, North Carolina departed her earthly home for her heavenly home. A native of McDowell County, Lois was born on February 3, 1936 to the late Clayton Burleson and Alma Leah Lindsay Stamey.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by the love of her life, W. Jack Marlow; one sister and four brothers.

Lois was a graduate of Marion High School and retired from Coats American. She was a selfless woman of quiet sacrifice. She was a loyal, faithful friend, mother, wife, sister, grandmother and daughter. Lois loved her church and serving her Lord. She also especially loved participating in her singing group “The Shingle Hollow Choir”. Tuesday was reserved for this outing-nothing else would take precedence. She also loved camping and spending time with her family. Lois was also fond of cooking, tending her flowers and watching the humming birds. Her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life.

Left to cherish her memories are two daughters, Donna M. Kirkpatrick (Carroll), Susie Alexander; two sons, David Marlow (Pam) and Tim Marlow (Jasmina). Also surviving Lois are eight grandchildren, Nick Kirkpatrick (Desarae), Matt Medford, Leah Thompson (Jeremy), Lindsay Marlow, Ryley Marlow, Chase Marlow, Jesse Alexander and Slayte Marlow; three great-grandchildren, Kaley Kirkpatrick, Kainen Medford and Emma Thompson and her special friend, Sandra Lawing.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Beam Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sugar Hill Baptist Church with Reverends Mark Lawing and Michael Robinson officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sugar Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
